Blast rocks family home

A mother and her two sons escaped injury in an explosion in Werribee on Sunday night.

The front two windows of a Songlark Crescent property were shattered in the explosion about 10.15pm.

Police said bedroom blinds prevented two teenage boys from being showered with glass.

Police do not know what caused the explosion but believe the force originated outside the property.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Hospital hires interpreter

Werribee Mercy Hospital has appointed its first in-house interpreter.

Christina George will interpret for speakers of Burmese and Karen, which is the most requested language for interpreting services at the hospital.

For interpreting services, call 8754 3439 or ask staff at the hospital.

Dig in for the creek

The Friends of Skeleton Creek are calling on the community to help at a planting day this Sunday.

The group plans to gather at 1pm beside the creek at Bromage Close, Hoppers Crossing, and hopes to plant 400 shrubs and saplings during the afternoon.

Bring your own gloves, everything else will be provided.
