Driver arrested after alleged attempted robbery

A teenager has been arrested after an attempted robbery on Dunnings Road, Point Cook, this morning, in which a man out jogging was allegedly threatened by a driver in a stolen car.

A man driving the stolen blue Toyota sedan allegedly demanded the jogger’s phone about 7.35am before driving away towards the West Gate Freeway.

Police arrested the man after the vehicle he was driving broke down on West Gate Freeway in Port Melbourne about 8.10am.

Members from the Dog Squad arrested the 19-year-old driver after the vehicle came to a standstill on the freeway.

The Caroline Springs man is now assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are also investigating a possible link to an aggravated burglary on Isham Street in Point Cook, which occurred about 7.25am.
