A special Western Bulldogs dress has been passed down through four generations of a family.

Wyndham’s Danielle Richardson said her grandparents – including her Nana Dorothy, aka Dot – lived in West Footscray all their lives.

They instilled a fondness for the Bulldogs in their seven children and grandchildren.

“I spent my childhood growing up at the Whitten Oval and now my daughter shares the same love,“ Mrs Richardson said.

Mrs Richardson said that a friend of her grandmother’s found some Bulldogs-themed material and sewed a dress for Dot during 1976.

Dot hoped to wear the dress to the MCG if the Doggies made the grand final.

Sadly, Dot passed away nine years ago.

However, Mrs Richardson promised her Nana that she would one day wear the dress to a Bulldogs grand final – which she did in 2016.

“It was a very emotional day but I’m so glad I was able to keep my promise,” Mrs Richardson said.

Five years on, and her own daughter, Olivia, 10, will wear the dress while watching 2021’s grand final.
