Reclink Australia has launched a project to bring sport into people’s homes and yards during the coronavirus pandemic.

The not-for-profit organisation, which is based in Werribee, aims to help disadvantaged Australians through sports and arts programs.

Founder Peter Cullen said Reclink was aiming to foster a sense of joy and togetherness in the community with its latest initiative, by giving people sports equipment to use at home or in the garden.

Reclink has appealed for Wyndham residents to donate footballs or soccer balls to the program, which has been named Reclink Connect.

Mr Cullen said a donation of $5 could also assist Reclink to buy a ball for families.

He said that during the past 30 years of operation, Reclink has worked with some of the most vulnerable people across the nation.

“The reality is we have seen the power of a single piece of sports equipment, the power of just one football, to bring great joy,” Mr Cullen said.

“Our new Reclink Connect Program provides an opportunity to give the sense of togetherness for people at the moment.

“It’s a great opportunity to contribute.

“If you can see a way to donate just $5 we can provide people experiencing disadvantage with a ball and bring some joy into people’s lives.”

Donations of sports equipment can be delivered to 11/13 Gervis Street, Werribee. Contact Mr Cullen on 0421 442 340 if you are planning to deliver any donations.
