Chiara Perri is taking the lead when it comes to entering the Wyndham Business Awards.

Ms Perri has nominated her business, Point Cook Dog Training and Day Care, in the professional services category and the inaugural innovation excellence award.

Ms Perri said she decided to enter the awards after clients suggested the idea to her. She said many customers had pointed out how much her business had grown since it started in 2003.

“It began in my garage in Point Cook after I moved to the area,” Ms Perri said.

Since then, the business has developed to include more than 100 canine clients a week and a new doggy day care centre in Hoppers Crossing.

Ms Perri said she believed one of the reasons behind her success was the fact that her dog training was based on positivity, not on correcting or punishing.

“What I enjoy most are the changes this makes, the positive changes between an owner and their dog,” she said.

Entries and nominations for the Wyndham Business Awards are being accepted until June 16. On Friday, May 5, a workshop about nominating for the awards will be held from 10am-noon at Wyndham Civic Centre. Details: wyndham.vic.gov.au/businessawards.
