Campbells Cove beauty captured

Campbell’s Cove in Werribee South is something of a hidden secret in Melbourne’s west.

About 150 small boat sheds stretch from intersection Cunningham’s Road and the beach track.

At nearby Bailey’s Beach, there are about 12 boat houses on the waterfront.

Some of the beach shacks at Campbell’s Cove date back to the 1940s and 1950s.

According to the Wyndham Heritage Study 1997, a report prepared by Werribee Council in July 1963 showed that many of the shacks were – at that time – owned by people from as far away as Brunswick, Coburg, Thornbury, Essendon, Pascoe Vale, Yarraville and Sunshine.

Star Weekly photographer Damjan Janevski captured these images showcasing the beauty of Campbell’s Cove.
