A 21-year-old man was allegedly assaulted with a hockey stick in Werribee on Friday.

The alleged assault, against the Werribee man, occurred about 2pm on Sneydes Road at the Princes Freeway overpass.

The assault was allegedly carried out by an occupant of a grey Holden Commodore sedan.

A Victoria Police media statement described the car as having a “distinctive white boot and rear bumper”.

Police officers first noticed the Holden, which did not have a rear number plate, in a carpark on Millers Road, Altona North about 1.30pm.

The vehicle allegedly reversed into a police divisional van, narrowly missing an approaching police officer.

Fortunately, no police officers were injured during the incident.

It is believed two men and a woman were inside the vehicle, at the time.

After the alleged assault took place on Sneydes Road, the Holden was later found abandoned on Enfield Avenue, Werribee.

Police have released CCTV of the vehicle in the hope that someone will recognise it and be able to provide information about its occupants.
