Active virus cases hit 28

Twenty-eight active cases of the coronavirus have been diagnosed in Wyndham residents today, compared to 17 cases the day before.

Figures released by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) this afternoon show that the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Wyndham residents has reached 88, compared to 75 yesterday.

An additional five cases have been linked to the outbreak at Al-Taqwa College in Truganina, bringing the total number of cases linked to the school to 23.

According to the DHHS, all staff and students have been quarantined and are being tested.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Victoria has reached 2368, with 66 new cases reported yesterday.

Seventeen of the new cases have been linked to known outbreaks, 20 new cases have been identified through routine testing and 28 cases are under investigation.

One new case has been detected in a returned traveller in hotel quarantine.

There have been 363 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Victoria that have been acquired through an unknown source. There are now 442 active cases in Victoria.

Currently, 23 people with coronavirus infection are in hospital, including six patients in intensive care.
