The sacrifices made by Australian men and women who served in Malaya and Borneo in World War II have been honoured by students at Thomas Carr College’s annual commemoration service.

Middle school captain Drashti Shah said the service, which was attended by veterans from the two theatres of war, was about recognising the efforts of those who served in the conflict.

“The veterans teach us about the hardships they went through,” she said.

During Wyndham’s Anzac Day march last month, the college’s captains carried the flags of Malaya and Borneo.
