Point Cook South East P-9 College gets a start

EDUCATION Minister Martin Dixon last week turned the first sod to start construction of the new Point Cook South East P-9 College.

Prep to grade 6 classes at the campus, on the corner of Alamanda Boulevard and Prudence Parade, will begin in February.

Work on the $10 million first stage is expected to be completed by mid-year.

“This school has been designed to get students involved,” Mr Dixon said. “Everything from the layout of the buildings with a central courtyard . . . to the flexible classrooms

Western Metropolitan Liberal MP Andrew Elsbury said new schools were critical to cater for Wyndham’s population explosion.

Tarneit Central P-9 College is also due to open next year. A decision on the Point Cook school’s name will be made soon. Wyndham Council has contributed $3.5 million for a kindergarten on the site.
