Truganina crashes claim life of boy and woman

Two people have died following collisions on Truganina roads in the past week.

A boy, 10, died in the Royal Children’s Hospital on Sunday after suffering serious injuries in an accident on Hopkins Road on May 27.

Ian Bouch, 46, of Tarneit, has been charged with negligently causing serious injury, dangerous driving causing serious injury and conduct endangering life as a result of the incident.

He faced Melbourne Magistrates Court last Thursday and was bailed to return to court in August.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

The boy’s death follows that of a woman, who is yet to be identified, in an accident on Dohertys Road about 2.30pm on Saturday.

Witnesses told police a Ford Falcon travelling along Dohertys Road and a Hyundai collided near Niton Drive, Truganina.

The female driver of the Hyundai died at the scene.

The Ford driver, a Brookefield man, 27, was not injured and is assisting police with inquiries.

The deaths take the state’s road toll to 109 for the year.
