Police seek help over lewd act in Hoppers Crossing

Police are calling on the community to help them catch a sexual deviant who broke into a Hoppers Crossing house last month and performed a lewd act.

First Constable Jeremy O’Brien said it was believed that a man in his late teens had scaled the back fence of the Hoppers Crossing home before entering through an unlocked door at about 10pm.

It is thought he could have spent up to 40 minutes in the house before he was found by mother of two Anu Bhardwaj performing a lewd act on a bed.

“The incident appears to be isolated at this stage, although it’s quite unusual and it has had some quite difficult effects on the family obviously,” First Constable O’Brien said.

Ms Bhardwaj said her family was celebrating her daughter’s fifth birthday with friends at the time of the incident.

“I was just standing at the laundry door calling for help and he came to the laundry, shushed me up and ran out,” Ms Bhardwaj said.

“It was a really shocking thing, especially for me and my daughters because the older one is really traumatised by the incident. Every time she goes into the bathroom or anywhere in the house she thinks there is a monster living in there.”

The man was described as being in his late teens, about 180 centimetres tall, with straight golden brown hair, thin eyebrows and a small tattoo on his left shoulder.
