It’s time to throw on your sari and celebrate the triumph of good over evil.

Tens of thousands of people are expected at Presidents Park on October 22 for a day of food, fun and culture at the Wyndham Diwali festival.

Artistic director Archana Koorthy said the event will feature traditional Indian dancers, Bollywood performances, carnival rides, henna tattoos, food and stalls.

There will also be a fireworks finale.

Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival also known as the festival of lights, celebrated by fireworks displays, bonfires and parades of people carrying lamps.

Ms Koorthy said although Diwali was a traditional Hindu festival, the Wyndham event would celebrate all cultures.

The free event starts at noon and continues until 10pm.
