Werribee Mercy Hospital turned 21 last week, celebrating with its annual community fair on Sunday.

Mercy Health’s health services chief executive, Linda Mellors, said the fair was also held to thank hospital staff and the Wyndham community for their “unwavering support”.

“The fair included entertainment, rides, a jumping castle, show bags and a variety of stalls selling arts and crafts, children’s toys, jewellery, homewares, and sweet treats,” she said.

“Community radio station WynFM broadcast live from the fair and created a great atmosphere for everyone there and people listening at home.”

Dr Mellors said the event was well attended by families and staff members.

She noted that the animal farm and face painting stand were among the most popular attractions.

And she thanked the event’s sponsors: Catholic Super, the Werribee Hospital Foundation, BankVic and Quest Werribee Apartment Hotel.

Money raised at the fair will go towards funding the hospital’s new critical care unit.
