One out of the box: 75 Greaves Street, Werribee, 3030

By Jan Fisher

While the facade of this Werribee house is straight out of The Brady Bunch, the interior has plenty to offer those who want to enjoy a more modern lifestyle. The ’70s exterior of white brick with elaborate wirework balconies will appeal to anyone who likes to think outside the box, but once inside the tastefully renovated interiors are all well suited to a busy family.

All renovations were done in the past four years and include removing some walls to open up the flow of the living spaces, new carpets, new bathrooms and a new kitchen. However a few details faithful to the period have been maintained, not the least of which is a substantial bricked archway between the family room and kitchen.

Keen cooks will love the kitchen with a 900mm cooker, stainless-steel dishwasher, oodles of storage including a walk-in pantry, space for a double fridge and plenty of natural light. It opens to a casual dining area.

All four bedrooms have wardrobes, including a walk-in robe in the main bedroom, and lush grey carpeting contrasting to great effect against white walls. Full height windows let the light shine in.

Both the en suite and main bathroom are kitted out in a matching style of refreshing blue and white tiles, above-bench white basins over white cabinetry, full-height glass showers and mirrored storage for a clean fresh look. The main bathroom also has a deep bath.

Outside is a stand-alone workshop, spacious covered dining area and separate covered, bricked-in barbecue area and plenty of paved space ideal for racing trikes or a hit of cricket.

Also included are ducted heating, split-system air-conditioning, a study and a double garage with internal access.

Perhaps the deal sealer might be the family-friendly location close to shops, schools, leisure options such as the Werribee Swim Centre, the open range zoo and the Werribee River and its walking tracks.
