October 1, 1975

The education scene in Werribee has received a disastrous setback as a result of the cutbacks in funds brought about by the incredible bungle in federal-state government financial relations. Among the cuts so far announced are a library at the Deutgam Street Primary School, Werribee Technical School second stage, and a new primary school for Windermere.

October 2, 1985

The officials were there, the traders were there, and so were the shoppers, thousands of them. Werribee Plaza opened with a bang and plenty of razzmatazz – much to the delight of locals.

More than 800 Wyndham business people will face rate rises of almost $600 a year as a result of Wyndham council’s newly introduced rating scheme. Angry business owners have hit out against the rise after receiving a letter from the council warning them to expect a bigger rate bill this year.

Women’s Health West has seen a 10 per cent increase in referrals from Wyndham since the introduction in August last year of Victoria Police’s code of practice for the investigation of family violence. WHW acting chief executive Karen Fait said the jump in figures was largely related to the statewide initiative.
