No throwing wobblies for Galvin Park student

There’s no denying Daniel Lefau has a natural talent for throwing a discus. The Galvin Park student finished third in the 15-year-old boys discus at last week’s Victorian Secondary Schools State Athletics Finals, despite having no formal training.

Daniel, 15, has learnt to throw a discus by taking part in physical education classes and school athletics carnivals. He hopes to join a local club to perfect his technique and learn new skills. “I took part in the state finals last year and came eighth.

This year I set a personal best and threw the discus three metres further.” Daniel says he began throwing a discus because he was intrigued by the sport.
