Four new public toilets are set to be added to Wyndham’s parks and open spaces, with the public invited to view concept plans and provide feedback at a series of drop-in sessions over the next two weeks.
The new toilets will be located at Conquest Drive Park, Werribee; Loyola Road Park,
Werribee; Principal Drive Park, Wyndham Vale and Delaney Boulevard Park,
Williams Landing.
These locations were chosen by Wyndham council as part of their
public toilet policy which aims to provide safe, clean and accessible toilets across
reserves and open spaces.
Wyndham mayor Jennie Barrera, said there was an uneven distribution of
public toilets across Wyndham meaning that council received about 12 requests for new public toilets annually.
“We adopted the new Public Toilet Policy earlier this year to address the gaps in
providing public toilets across Wyndham and I’m pleased to see that we’re already
rolling out concept designs for the installation of new toilets,” Cr Barrera said.
“To achieve the vision set out in Plan Melbourne for liveable neighbourhoods,
facilities such as public toilets must be available in our open space network.
Council has mapped current toilet facilities, identified issues with their provision and
management, and developed an Implementation Framework – this result being a
destination-based approach to providing public toilets.”
