Werribee Mercy Hospital’s new Critical Care Unit has received a welcome cash injection.
Last week, the Werribee Lions Club presented Mercy Health Foundation development manager Alun Evans with a cheque for $6000 following a recent fundraising golf day.
Lions president Tom Henderson said more than 80 people took part in the day, raising money for a worthy cause.
“It’s the true meaning of community spirit – a community group doing something for a community project,” he said.
“Each year as the president comes in, they can choose where the money from the golf day will go.
“Being a diabetic, I was originally going to donate the money towards type 2 diabetes [research]. Around the same time we got invited to help out with a fair at the Mercy Hospital, and the organiser Alun Evans explained what it was about and it changed my outlook completely.”
As reported by Star Weekly, the $2 million campaign to fit-out Werribee Mercy’s Critical Care Unit has reached the halfway mark.
